Teams
- Teams must consist of 5 players.
- A player from one team may not switch to another team once the tournament has begun.
- Teams are free to choose their own names (Grand Slam withholds the right to deny a team name if deemed too inappropriate).
Court
- The dodgeball court will consist of boundary lines, a midline, two blue lines, and two pink lines.
- All 10 dodgeballs will be placed on the midline prior to the start of the game.
Time
- Each game will be limited to 10 minutes.
- At any point in the game, the referee may indicate a line change that will allow players to advance to the next line.
- During play, there will be at least two referees stationed at the end of the midline to facilitate the game.
- Referees start the game, confirm hits and catches, and announce line advancements.
- Failure to comply with the referee will result in immediate ejection and disqualification from the event with NO REFUND!
- Prior to the beginning of the game, all players must line up behind the rear boundary line.
- When the referee announces the start of the game, players may advance to the midline and retrieve the dodgeballs.
- Balls must be brought back to the pink line before they can be thrown.
- Failure to bring the ball back to the pink line before throwing it will result in a dead ball.
- A player is out if:
- He/she steps over an active line.
- The player is hit by a thrown live ball.
- He/she throws a live ball and it is caught by an opponent.
- A thrown, live ball can only eliminate 1 player.
- Thrown balls that hit the ground, wall, other balls, or other objects before hitting the opponent are considered dead balls, and are ineligible to eliminate players.
- A thrown ball may be blocked with a held ball. However, if the ball used to block is dropped while in the process of blocking, the player attempting the block is eliminated.
- A player may leave the court only to retrieve a ball. However, if the player is not clearly attempting to retrieve a ball, he/she will be eliminated.
- Once a ball has been retrieved from out-of-play, the player must return to the court immediately.
- The player who retrieved the ball cannot throw the ball until he/she has returned to the court. Any ball thrown prior to the player's return will be considered a dead ball.
- Players retrieving a ball are considered in-play, and may therefore be eliminated by an opponent.
- If a team possesses more than one ball on their side of the court, that team has exactly 10 seconds to throw a ball, or 1 of their players will be eliminated.
- All players who are eliminated must sit in the order they were eliminated in.
- If a teammate catches a ball, the first eliminated player may return to play.
- An eliminated player returning to play may not be eliminated again until he/she crosses the pink line.
